The clean slate meant that they could finally control what was actually put into their coatings and avoid the dangers that were still commonplace in modern coatings. It was a major point of concern for NMP that products in the market still contained solvents, toxins, carcinogens and other "traditional" hazards. Their consideration of future generations and conviction that safe products could be created without sacrificing performance meant avoiding such hazards was a must.

In 2004, NMP gained recognition for their "eco-minded" approach by becoming the first industrial coating manufacturer in Australia to be eco-certified under ISO 14020 as a "Good Environmental Choice". In early 2008, the range was re-verified and remains the only range to be fully eco-certified, confirming their status as leaders in eco-industrial technology.
