There
has always been a demand for indoor decorative flooring. Finishes based
on flakes, coloured quartz and swirling blends of solid colours are nothing
new, and, in recent years, various forms of "polished concrete"
have also become quite fashionable - from plain warehouse looks through
to specialty aggregate finishes.
Resin-based flooring has proven itself over many years in these kinds
of "traditional" decorative flooring applications. In fact,
most applicators were able to use "generic" industrial resins
as the designs were simple and methods very forgiving. The problem arose
when these styles became outdated and people started wanting more. Creative,
fresh designs and new application methods exposed real problems with bubbling,
defoaming, crawling and colour separation (to name a few). Applicators
struggled to convert their ideas into floors as every defect became costly
in time, labour and product.
In 2006, we started developing products specifically to overcome the resin
problems holding the decorative industry back. We produced a range of
resins that actually worked to enable applicators to focus on their creativity,
not on rectification. Suddenly, a new frontier of outrageous designs was
within the grasp of applicators - designs that didn't just look good,
but had such impact they aroused emotions in the observer, were now possible.
Additionally,
and most important, the
range was safer for man and environment than the traditional alternatives
with our company and products independently assessed and eco-certified
to ISO 14020.
It is because of all these reasons that
became the "first call for decorative epoxies".
